Greyhound is the name of the film's Ship. The story is told from Captain Earnest Krause's (played by Tom Hanks who also wrote the screenplay) point of view. The movie is based on 1955 novel "The Good Shepherd" by C.S. Forester.

Directed by Aaron Schneider, starring Tom Hanks and Elisabeth Shue, the film follows a Navy Captain who must shepherd men and ships across the Atlantic Ocean to join the war during World War ll. His convoy is pursued by German Submarines collectively known as "Wolf Pack" that patrol the area. In a matter of few days, the clashes became frequent and deadly. This is Captain Krause's first wartime mission and he is aware of the great responsibilities he carries. He lets his spiritual faith, enormous knowledge, skill guide him as he leads his crew on this dangerous mission.

The movie is action-packed and is filled with suspense. As the time goes by, the stakes get higher. Beautiful visuals and wonderful performance of Navy service members add a lot of hearty, hope and optimism to the movie. Hanks brings truth and emotion to his character. Director Aaron Schneider and his team deliver a timeless storm and a visual piece of art. Characters fully develop. Everyone works together as a team without any conflicts. The Flashback romance scenes between Hank and Elisabeth Shue feel corny but the bone chilling action does the job and keeps us hungry for more.

Greyhound is an intense, thrilling, gripping, action-packed tale of Battleships that will keep you at the edge of the seat. It is a serious, well-intentioned slice of WWII naval history full of compelling detail and good action but lacking the dimensions and dynamics to make you truly feel it.

Though Tom Hanks is heartbroken by the move, his new World War II movie, Greyhound, skipped the theatrical release and is now available to stream on Apple TV+. Greyhound was originally slated to open in theaters by Sony Pictures on March 22, 2020 but was delayed due to the coronavirus.
