Directed by Walt Dohrn (in this feature directorial debut) with a screenplay by Jonathan Aibel, Glenn Berger, Elizabeth Tippet, Maya Forbes, and Wallace Wolodarsky, the film features an ensemble cast that features the voices of Anna Kendrick (Queen Poppy), Justin Timberlake (Branch), Rachel Bloom (Queen Barb), James Corden (Biggie), Ron Funches (Cooper), Kelly Clarkson (Delta Dawn), Sam Rockwell (Hickory), Flula Borg (Dickory), J Balvin (Tresillo), Red Velvet (K-Pop Gang). The film is a sequel to Trolls (2016) and is produced by DreamWorks Animation.

The film follows Queen Poppy (Anna Kendrick) and Branch (Justin Timberlake) who discover that there are Six Troll tribes represent the musical genres Pop, Funk, Classical, Techno, Country, and Rock. Each tribe keeps a magical string that powers their specific kind of music. Queen Barb of the Rock tribe summons all the tribes to a reunion, intending to steal the strings to unite the trolls under rock music after stealing the techno string. Poppy and Branch embark on a mission to unite the trolls and save the diverse melodies from becoming extinct.

The sequel to the absolutely average 2016 Trolls movie is very much more of the same with a greater sprinkling of famous voices. It encourages the inclusion and diversity both in terms of musical genre and cultural background. But it is not as exciting as the original one. The film is very episodic and predictable, building up to the inevitable genre mash-up singalong but there is not one you come to expecting originality or depth.

Trolls World Tour is now available on Digital and Blu-ray.
